About Personal Chef / Personal Trainer Donna
Donna Mintz, C.P.T, has always had a pulse on the fitness industry as well
as a love of cooking. As a result, she became a Certified Personal Trainer,
adding additional certifications as a group fitness and kickboxing instructor.
She also threw certified fitness nutritionist into the mix. Donna's path
is an interesting one. She started her career training clients in their
homes, using resistance tubing, medicine balls and free weights. While many
of her clients started to show progress meeting their health and fitness
goals, a few would plateau, lose interest and stop exercising. Frustrated
by this, she began a little investigating. Her discovery was interesting:
she found that what many of her clients were eating, combined with the WAY
they were cooking,presented a problem. They were not getting the nutrients
to sustain their energy. This was the catalyst that set her in a different
direction. Donna went back to school and studied , becoming a certified
sports nutritionist. Along the way, she decided to go to culinary school
to learn more about cooking. Her interest narrowed further. Donna chose
to specialize in healthy cooking classes and studied at The New School and
The Natural Gourmet Institute for Food and Health. With her new found knowledge
of cooking and preparation techniques, she experimented with different recipes
and used her family and friends as guinea pigs…fortunately for her, she
was met with rave reviews! Donna once again brought this information to
her clients…and began to see progress. And the idea of healthy eating coupled
with the right exercise was born. When Donna discovered a new career called
"Personal Chef", she realized the timing was right to combine her two passions,
fitness and cooking. She could effectively teach people in a short amount
of time what took years for her to study, experiment and learn.
