Welcome to Basil & Barbells
My name is Donna Mintz and I am a Personal
Chef, Holistic Health Counselor and Personal Trainer
What brought you here? Are you overweight,
have low energy or food cravings? How many diets have you tried
over the last 5 years? Are you running on empty and refilling
on caffeine? Having trouble fitting "you" into your life?
We're all so busy these days. Getting the
kids up in the morning, fed, to school, ourselves dressed, to
work, running to meetings, after school activities, grabbing lunch
on the run, dinner at the drive-thru, our gas tanks are nearing
empty and we don't even know it. We're so busy running around
taking care of everyone else, but what is going to happen if we
get sick? Who will take care of us? How long do you think you
can keep this up? By making small changes you can have more energy
to do the things that need to get done.

Make changes that
fit into your life as you live it today
In order for you to be able to implement healthy
lifestyle changes, they must not cause major disruptions to your
life. Together we will discuss ways in which you can make small
changes that will point you in a healthy direction and make some
time for you.
Set and accomplish goals
Realistic goals, as well as realistic time
frames, are a must. Without them neither of us can do our jobs
properly. Your persoanlized program is designed specifically with
your objectives in mind. You will be supplied with all the necessary
information, materials and support you need to turn your goals
into reality.
Never count calories
I don't know about you, but if I have to count
calories, I think about food way to often and it becomes and obsession.
Learn how and why you should increase your consumption of certain
foods and decrease others in order to never have to count another
calorie!
Conquer cravings
Your body is very intelligent, it will crave
what it needs for balance. If you have cravings we will explore
and conquer them together.
Learn healthy cooking techniques
When I was in culinary school my chef always
told us to add flavor where ever possible. I will show you how to
do this.
Never eat boring, tasteless
food again
I love to develop healthy recipes, and I
love to share them. Many people believe that in order to be healthy
they need to eat food they don't like. This is absoluely not true!
I have thousands of recipes that say otherwise.
Explore new foods
When I was first learning to cook, every
time I would go to the grocery store I would buy one new food
that I had never tried. Some I loved, some, well, not so much.
But, at least I tried some new and interesting ingredients that
helped me to improve my cooking and expand my repitiore. You can
do this too, with my recipes for support.
Learn proper exercise technique
Whether you're already a fitness nut, or just
starting out, proper technique is essential in order to avoid injury.
You will be provided with all the necessary information to exercise
effectively and without injury, in your own home or gym. If you
are intimidated by the gym, you will gain the confidence to give
it a try.
Feel better in our own skin Aside from food and exercise, how
we think can affect our health too. We all have bad days, we all have people that need us and then others that debilitate us. We
have thoughts that make us unhappy. By learning to turn these thoughts positive, alleviate stress, get slow and make yourself
a priority you will feel better in your own skin. |

As a health
counselor I have studied with some
of the top teachers in the alternative medicine industry, as well
as having studied over one hundred dietary theories and helped
countless clients reach their goals. Are you ready to make some

As a personal
chef I have cooked hundreds of meals
for clients with health issues such as pre-diabetes and gestational
diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, IBS, anorexia
and many more. These people had enough faith in me to put their
health in my hands, something I take very seriously. I can teach
you to do the same for yourself.
As a personal
trainer I have worked with many busy clients
with no time work out. By implementing a few short exercise programs into their day they were able to exercise in a safe and effective
